Comments from Ron Simard, newest NXT owner:

?I've been looking for an airplane to build since 1996 and I wanted to build an aircraft that was a significant step forward from my Glasair III, in terms of aerodynamics and thus performance yet still having the Glasair's strength! While the NXT appeared to fill these requirements, I wasn't sure. My experience of the industry told me to wait and see! Well after watching for 4 years I am satisfied. Many people think it just takes horsepower to go fast, an engineer will tell you what it takes. This airframe has it! It is at the leading edge aerodynamically and structurally. For strength, I like the carbon and in particular the one piece wing, no bolts or joints to worry about, those always bother me! It is a very good feeling to have a tough airplane under you like the NXT! Will I try to improve on the performance further, as an engineer it will be impossible not too try, but first I want to get it flying so it will be constructed as per the design.

Thanks to your builder program my project is off to a great start. The 10 days working with you and your people, along with the use of your tools and facilities to trim out all the ribs, bulkheads and all the other PFT parts are a significant time saver for me. I also have my fuel tank ready to close out! After building 4 composite experimental aircraft, it is a pleasure to be able to cut to the scribe line and have the part fit perfectly! No tracing, cutting foam, doing lay ups, trimming and fitting, fantastic! All I need to do now is position and bond the parts in, which will allow me to get the airframe on it's gear quickly.

Your ventilation booth, being dust and odor free, is a pleasure to work in! A must have in any composite shop! I really appreciate its use. It will be a change for the worst cutting and grinding what little else I have left, in hot and humid Panama. It is only now, a week later that I am beginning to understand how far those 10 days have moved the project forward.

Yuri is a star in your organization, he taught me numerous techniques and tricks in dealing with carbon and fiberglass products, not too mention all the help he gave me. He outlined which tools to buy to make the job easier, what clothing and protection worked best. This input was very important and reduced my learning curve. While I consider I have a reasonable amount of experience, in composites, it soon became obvious to me he needed to be listened to carefully.

I want to thank you and Karen for making me part of the family, for the camaraderie, the Bar-b-ques, the fun and the productive time I had at SLO Air

In regards accommodations they are right where they need to be; at the hangar! This allowed early starts and late nights. These accommodations and your shop facilities are first class in finish, organization and housekeeping and are obviously a pleasure to live and work in.

We want to thank you for the use of your courtesy car, this made it convenient to travel in the San Luis Obispo area, a very pleasant unexpected convenience. Your location near the beaches, Hearst castle and Harbor Freight provide recreation for the whole family!!!?
